SOULJACKER collaborator and honorary EEL John Parish surprised Patti Smith's Meltdown audience Sunday evening at Queen Elizabeth Hall in London by audibly booing current EELS guitarist/multi-instrumentalist The Chet from the audience and then jumping on stage to rock the house himself, marking his first performance with EELS since 2001. Initial reports reflect that a good time was had by all.

Thursday: From the steps of the Universal Music World Headquarters in Santa Monica, California, EELS leader Mark Oliver Everett, aka E, announces 2005 tour:

"The past few EELS tours had taken a physical and emotional toll on me. I decided it was time to stop. But then one night I was in the backyard smoking a cigar with Bobby, Jr. and I was thinking about how we've been pummeling the audiences with variations on a distorted, rocking theme for the past few tours and wouldn't it be nice to do something really different? I found myself getting creatively excited about the idea. I couldn't stop myself from calling the office and having my team of experts assist me in making this idea a reality. So here we come again. If you're looking for rock -- turn back. You've come to the wrong place. This is a whole other thing."

The new EELS album BLINKING LIGHTS AND OTHER REVELATIONS will be released April 26, 2005, worldwide. It is now confirmed to be a 33 track DOUBLE album. Stay tuned for more updates.

1/7/2005- UNIVERSAL APPEAL:
OK, OK... so EELS aren't exactly leaving Interscope Records. They've ironed things out and the new EELS album will be released on the Interscope/Universal Vagrant Records label, so EELS music will continue to get to the world via Universal, as usual. The site and message board will stay right here where they are. Isn't that nice? Anyway, the real news is that we will be announcing the release date for the new album soon.
